Book Review: Be The Best Mom You Can Be

I have always loved reading ever since I first learned how. I finish one book and immediately start another. When I learned about BookLookBloggers from the lovely Sarah over at Come What May, it didn’t take me long to jump on board. So, here is my first review for the book Be The Best Mom You Can Be by Marina Slayton:
Note: This book was provided by BookLookBloggers in exchange for my honest opinion, good or bad.
When I first saw this book was up for review, I honestly didn’t know if I was that interested in reading it. I am really not into self-help/feel good books. Especially if I’m not familiar with the author. I requested the book on a whim just to see what it was like. I was pleasantly surprised. This book is full of practical wisdom on godly mothering in a day and age where anything goes and everything is acceptable. The author gives examples from personal experience and the experiences of others to help solidify her points. She is real and honest about issues that they faced in their own family. She never claims to have a perfect family and openly admits to faults of her own. I appreciated the fact that she continuously points back to Jesus as a mother’s true source of help. Without His guidance and direction, being “the best Mom you can be” would be impossible. She also brings out the fact that even if you didn’t have the best parents or childhood, you can still break those chains and be a better parent for your children…all through Jesus. Whether you are a new mom, a seasoned mom, or a single mother (there is a whole chapter dedicated to single moms) this book is a very practical tool that you can use to shape who you are as a mother.
