Our Virginia Beach Vacation

Va beach 2015  You know those times when it feels like God just handed you a gift and it almost feels too good to be true?
That’s how this trip felt. For a long while, Gerry and I (especially me) were longing to go to the beach. It didn’t look like it would work out so well, budget-wise, especially since we have another large trip in the plans.
And then came the surprise. The day after a day where I was particularly longing for the beach, Gerry called me. He was doing some work for a lady that they have worked for different times. She randomly came out to Gerry and asked him if our family would be interested in going to the beach for a few days. They had a week long vacation there, but were only able to go for part of the week. Would we be interested in going? Ummm…YES!!!!!!! It seemed almost too good to be true. We both half expected her to back out and say that she had changed her mind, but instead we got several phone calls from her confirming that we still wanted to go and to let us know that she had already arranged everything with the resort. All we had to do was pack our belongings and show up.
Va beach 2015  It was lovely. What more can I say? We had an ocean view room and one morning Gerry and I got up early to see the sunrise.

I think Virginia Beach will always hold a special place in my heart because that is where Gerry and I went on our honeymoon. Although, when we were there, it was the end of October and Hurricane Sandy had just swept it’s way along the east coast so it was cold, windy, and rainy.Va beach 2015  It was also very different in that we had both boys along with us. We both would have wanted to spend much more time actually down by the water, but with two littles, you have to make concessions for naptime. It was still a wonderful weekend, and we had so much fun biking around with the boys and sitting out on the balcony.Va beach 2015
I can just hear the waves crashing on the shoreline, feel the wind on my face, and smell the salt in the air. I’d be back there in a heartbeat if I could.
Happy Monday!
